For Teachers–Thank you to all the history, literature and writing teachers who have contacted me to say that you are reading A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True in your classes. As a current teacher for the Chicago Public Schools, I want to do whatever I can to support other teachers. If you would like your classes to “meet the author,” I will try to make myself available, either in person if you are in Chicago, or by Skype. Please feel free to contact me. Also, one of my colleagues, Joe Scotese, has been teaching A Long, Long Time Ago for the past two years and has published lots of resources, including audio of me speaking to his class on his very popular teaching web site, A Way to Teach.
For Book Clubs–Thank you to all of you who have e-mailed to let me know that you have read or plan to read A Long, Long Time Ago in your book clubs. Over the past year, I’ve managed to visit a few book clubs a month in Chicago and the near suburbs, and I’m very grateful for the privilege of meeting so many strong, intelligent and tightly-connected groups of women. Here are a few photos from book clubs. Feel free to send your own!
